Are Bulls pizzle sticks good for dogs?

Yes Bulls Pizzles are good for dogs as they are a super hard chew that helps to remove plaque and tartar from their teeth while they are gnawing down. Pizzles are a hard chew and are ideal to give your dog on a regular basis to help keep on top of plaque and tartar and keep their dental health at its finest.

They are a great alternative to rawhide and are 100% Natural so you know that you're giving your dog the best possible treat.

Pizzles are 100% muscle meaning they only contain one ingredient which allows them to be highly digestible. Pizzles are also highly palatable meaning they are loved by dogs around the world.

Pizzles are also great for promoting good mental health because as they chew and lick the Pizzle it releases endorphins helping your dog to be calm and chilled.

As we said before Pizzles can come in all different shapes, sizes and lengths plus they can be braided to make them extra tough for the powerful chewers.

Why do Pizzles smell?

Yes we agree, pizzles do have a distinctive smell. Thats a good thing though as it means no chemicals or extra ingredients have been added. But trust us your dog will absolutely love them!
Plus as your dog chews the Pizzle they are adding moisture which may make the natural smell more enhanced.

Is it ok to give my dog a pizzle every day?

Although pizzles are a much loved chew that your dog loves, we recommend only giving your dog a pizzle 2-3 times a week as they are high in calories. Don’t forget treats should only take up no more than 10% of their daily caloric intake, so make sure you adjust their meals accordingly.

Is it ok if my dog eats small pieces of the Pizzle?

The short answer is yes! Due to pizzles being a single source protein and highly digestible it is safe for dogs to eat small pieces of the pizzle. That being said, you should make sure your dog is supervised and make sure they have a supply of fresh water at all times. Some dogs like to gulp the last remaining parts of a treat so if you think your dog may do the same make sure you take it off them beforehand.

What is the difference between Pizzles and Bully sticks?

Well the answer is there isn't a difference they are both exactly the same. It's just some manufacturers call them Pizzles, Bully sticks, Bull’s Penis, the list goes on!

How are Pizzles made?

Well it all depends on each seller and how they are sourced as they are all different, but this is how ours are made?

  1. Firstly they are cleaned and sorted in a refrigerated room to ensure safety of the product.
  2. The Pizzles are then hung vertically on hooks suspended from the ceiling and air dried over time. As the Pizzle hangs all the moisture comes out of the Pizzle, allowing the odour to reduce but keeps all the natural goodness locked in!
  3. After they have been left to air dry in a sterile and safe environment they are ready to be cut. They are then cut to 15 cm pieces.

How do I store the Pizzles?

Pizzles have a shelf life of up to 18 months (I'm sure once your dogs get the whiff you have them in the house they will not be around that long!). However, keeping them in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight is the best way to store them. Some people like to keep them in an airtight container or just in your dog's treat box.
If your dog hasn't finished their pizzle within the first sitting, simply let it dry and return it back to your chosen storage container. It's as simple as that, no extra steps!

How long do Pizzles last for?

Pizzles last for a very long time in fact up to 2 years once they have been produced. We make sure we have a quick turnover on our end to make sure you have them with at least 18 months left.

In terms of how long it will last your dog, it completely depends on how powerful they chew and the breed of dog. We have figured that if you give your dog the correct size Pizzle so either standard or thick they can last several hours to several days. Please make sure your dog has the correct size for their breed so that you get your money's worth.

Are Pizzles safe for my dog?

Pizzles are completely safe and healthy for your dog, they are a great alternative to rawhide as they are highly digestible and a single source protein.

All we advise is fresh water is supplied, you make sure your dog is supervised and they have the correct size for them.

We always make sure all of our products that we sell are tested on our family’s furry friends before we sell them, so rest assured that they are definitely loved by us!

Are Pizzles safe for my puppy?

We completely understand that having a puppy is overwhelming and sometimes we can worry about what is safe to give them. As we know puppies are very excitable, high energy and little monkeys but rest assured that Pizzles are safe for your puppy over 12 weeks old. In fact we recommend that it is one of the first natural treats you give to your puppy. They are a great chew for teething and helping them relieve some pain but also due to Pizzles being highly digestible and nothing bad added they are a great healthy treat for you pup. Plus they are a high source of protein which your puppy so very needs.

If you are scared your puppy may gulp or choke on the Pizzle you can always hold it while they are chewing and give it to them for a short period of time. This way you can be in control of how much they are eating and allows your pup to understand they can't gulp. Here you can find more natural treats for puppies.
